The 16 bungalows with totally 32 spacious rooms are built in a traditional Balinese style. For the construction of the resort, which is harmoniously integrated into the beautiful countryside, only local materials such as sandstone, marble, palemanan, wood and bamboo were used.

Local craftsmen and artists have created a unique resort from this special combination of materials. Many affectionate details in the stone-carvings are waiting to be discovered. Retreat in the exclusive environment of your room on your beautifully crafted four-poster bed and relax.

Bungalows Ground plan
Our guests have the choice between our Garden View, Panorama View, Deluxe and Super Deluxe Bungalows.

All our bungalows consist of two units and have beautiful marble terraces. They differ in location, size and equipment.

They all have a two-winged handcarved Balinese door through which you enter the bed-living-room. This room is decorated in warm colours with elegant and richly ornamented wooden furniture, a king-size Balinese bed or two separate beds, and a parquet floor.

An individually adjustable remote controlled air-conditioning, an IDD telephone, a minibar, coffee and tea making facilities and a safe are discreetly integrated. Each unit is equipped with a marble bathroom and a small tropical back garden with a shower shaped like a water spouting Balinese dragon. Here our guests can take a shower under the open sky – an unforgettable experience! The Deluxe and Super Deluxe Bungalows are additionally equipped with double wash-basins and bidets. The Super Deluxe Bungalow offers another extra: a private pavilion in the middle of a lotus pond. The ground plans on the left give you a small impression of the division of our bungalows.

Guests of not only our resort, but also to our region and even sailors passing by, have been fascinated by the highly imaginative creations of our chef de cuisine Komang Sujana and Jany-Michel Fourré together with their team. As in the rest of the resort eastern and western influences lead to delightful contrasts and unique tasteful experiences.

Restaurant Dewi Ramona
Here you can taste the latest creations of our team in the daily changing Menu Bali, Menu Relais and the vegetarian Parwathi Menu. Of course you can always opt for the A la Carte Menu with several specialities which have become during the years classics.

Leon Beach Bistro
Enjoy Balinese and western creations prepared right at your table in the relaxed beach atmosphere of Leon Beach Bistro. Or listen to the gentle lapping of the Java Sea over a freshly prepared Sundown Cocktail.

Weekly Program
Monday – Babi Guling (a whole roasted, with special herbs stuffed pig) or Ayam Betutu (slow steamed chicken filled with herbs) is being served in Leon Beach Bistro accompanied by the music group Sabda Winangun, consisting of members of the staff and the village Pemuteran.

Wednesday – a performance of the traditional Legong Dance in the stage of Restaurant Dewi Ramona with a Balinese Rijsttafel, a combination of several local dishes and originally served by the Dutch.

Saturday – candle-light champagne dinner served by the pool and accompanied by Matahari Live Music singing traditional Indonesian and popular Western songs.

Our wine-cellar
We live too short to drink bad wines. With this in mind, we have at Matahari built an own wine-cellar – on Bali an architectural curiosity – which forms the ideal completion of our Gourmet Cooking. It is well filled with an on Bali unique selection of more than 120 kinds of wines which perfectly match the served food. The wines not only come from the main European regions but also from South-America, California, South-Africa and, of course Australia and New-Zealand. Most of the wines are directly imported and are difficult to find in other places on the island. A votre sante!

Ingredients of highest quality
In order to guarantee the quality of the recipes, our organic vegetables are grown by farmer Wayan Sarma ( without in our own plantation) high in the mountains near Bedugul. The poultry, like pigeons and ducks, and essential for many of our exquisite dishes as well pigs for our home made sausages and ham, are being farmed on our property opposite the entrance of the resort.

Private dining
We are happy to host a private dinner celebration according to your wishes in one of our romantic pavilions spread over the property, with private waiter and chef.

Cooking lesson
Begin your cooking lesson with a visit to the local market together with our chef who will introduce you to the secrets of Asian cuisine.Together you will create an Asian dinner with the products purchased in the morning. Later you can enjoy the food you have prepared.To round off the lesson, you will receive a personal certificate together with a carefully selected collection of recipes.

The Wayang Cocktail Bar
Here we are offering many classical drinks as well as refreshing fruit cocktails. The interior of the bar is decorated with traditional handmade stone carvings, telling Balinese mythological stories. With the thousands of glittering stars shining above you, there is no better place for an aperitif or a digestive
